A nice, classy restaurant that sits in downtown Pittsburgh, Vallozzis is a great place to go for a date or special occasion.
The decor inside is very well-done; you can tell they really tried to put together an Italian feel. The lighting is also done well so that the ambiance is pretty dark, so that you have more privacy when you're eating. The tables are dimly lit by a single candle, which is nice except that they often burn out if a breeze passes by. Minor problem but it was annoying during my dinner. The service here is super professional, and you'll be impressed by how the waiters describe the dishes to you and how they move around the restaurant.
As for the food, my meat sauce pasta was excellent. There was the perfect blend of meat and sauce, and the al dente pasta really added that extra kick that just made the meal super satisfying. I also got to try a seafood alfredo pasta, which I wasn't as much impressed by. I thought the sauce was way too salty and seafood being naturally salty just made it worse.
But overall, I had a fabulous time at Vallozzis, and really want to try out what other pastas they have to offer.
