| - Disclaimer: I am rating this stay at the Hyatt against other Hyatt stays this year.
Great things:
- Staff: the staff is so great! From the check-in to a trip to the concierge and then outside for curbside pickup, the people did not disappoint (save for housekeeping, see below). Hyatt staff are always amazing, and this was no exception! They really try to make your stay great and effortless. We also went to the in-house bar Networks for a snack around 930 pm. There was one single fellow acting as the bartender, busser, waiter, and host. The bar was pretty packed but this guy was a machine! And he did it all without missing a beat, with a smile on his face!
There are quite a few things about this hotel that made me scratch my head:
- Room layout: we stayed in a standard King room. The room was HUGE, but there was only one lounge chair. It could have easily accommodated an additional full-size couch, but only one of us could lounge at a time.
- Window: there was one tiny window in the room, but a whole wall had curtains, giving a much different illusion. Weird.
- Lighting: the bathroom is basically a cave. One light above the sink, no others.
And then there were things that were actually an inconvenience:
- Bathroom: aside from being tiny, our toilet was on the fritz. It made a weird hissing sound when it flushed, the handle became progressively unscrewed until we would screw the Phillips head screw back in. The shower tub was so dark (see line about lighting), compounded by the very, very dark shower curtain. The curtain barely did its job- water would get out, and the floor was very slick. The drain was backed up- I waded on my first shower.
- Housekeeping: we stayed 3 nights. Each morning, housekeeping entered at 8:45, when we were still in bed (I know it's late, but... vacation). I was shocked that it happened after the first time, and so annoyed. On the second morning, after very clearly waking us up, the lady tried to ask when to come back. Um I don't know you just woke me up from a R.E.M. Cycle.
- Tv: when I say none of the tv channels worked, I am not exaggerating. Most of the channels said "no signal", despite being advertised on the channel guide. What the heck! What is a vacation without house hunters?
- Parking garage: at our last Hyatt stay in Maui, our room key doubled as the parking lot key. At this hotel, in-out privileges are used by a flimsy paper pass with a bar code (not even card sized.. its memo sized so it is even more difficult to scan). Repeatedly, we had to get help to get out. The company has the technology for a more efficient parking garage. I hope it integrates soon.
Overall, the stay was fine. Nothing was insurmountable, it was just very different from our other amazing Hyatt experiences.
