If you are in downtown Tempe near Mill Avenue and the Salt River then this is a great little spot to do a very short hike that goes straight uphill and then straight back down.
It's kind a like going to the gym and using the stair mill only outside so not quite as boring. You get great views of pretty much the entire Phoenix area until the nothing of the desert begins from up top of the mountain.
The only real bummer is whenever you're in Tempe parking is a pain in the butt. You have to find a meter that doesn't have a ticket saying that you can't park there but your credit card in and remember to get back because people ticket and tell you in no time at all.
PS: don't park anywhere that says only for the customers of that place. Not even for five minutes or you will come out and your car will be towed.
