  • I visited Temple Bar Sports Grill with a friend on a whim for NYE 2015. We had been hanging out at home, then decided food was in order. My friend was already familiar with Temple Bar, but this little holiday visit was my first. (And I'm aaaaaaall about those firsts, baby!) DISCLAIMER To be brutally honest, I'm not typically a huge fan of the pub experience. In my experience, food tends to be over-portioned and bland and the overall atmosphere can tend to be somewhat noisy and obnoxious. ABOUT THE VISIT I am HAPPY to report that such was not at all the case at Temple Bar. My friend and I arrived around 10:00p or so and the place was pretty empty apart from us. We were immediately and cheerfully greeted and welcomed to sit wherever we liked. Once seated, we were once again greeted and served menus by Brittany (hopefully I'm spelling your name correctly!), a very sweet girl who also happened to be tending bar. Brittany remained very polite and attentive throughout the course of our stay. We ordered a couple drinks and then both decided on the Hangover Dip hot sandwich to soak up the booze. The food came surprisingly quickly and was WAY more tasty than I could have possibly anticipated! -- I would actually go back just for that sandwich, no lie. -- As the night progressed, more and more people began to show up. The space was plenty large enough to accommodate, though, without getting noisy or claustrophobic, and somehow Brittany still managed to check in with us regularly despite the busier workload. At one point early on in our stay, my friend wanted the tv channel changed to "anything but football". Brittany was very quick to oblige and enlisted the help of a coworker to get the channel changed for us. (They gave us our choice of whatever we wanted to watch.) CONCLUSION Overall, I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised with the experience at Temple Bar. The mathematics of its spacious interior, the phenomenal service, and the tasty food just added up to a really pleasant dining experience. It was pretty perfect. If you haven't been to Temple Bar and you find yourself in the area with an empty stomach, I would absolutely recommend that you stop by, ask for Brittany, and order up a Hangover Dip with a side of fries like we did! You won't be let down! :) SPECIAL THANKS Brittany, thank you for being such a wonderful hostess. You got dealt the short stick having to work NYE, and you handled it with a grace and positivity that flowed really beautifully into our night as well. I really appreciated that. Major props to you!
