  • My wife and I traveled to Baton Rouge via Atlanta from Las Vegas. The trip there was comfortable and uneventful. The staff treated us very well although the head steward was an ass. He thought he was funny and he had to keep making comments that he thought were funny for his captive audience. No harm just annoying. We had to fly in a puddle jumper for the flight from Atlanta to Baton Rouge but it was only 1 hour. On our return we were delayed at the airport in Baton Rouge because of a storm. Since this was the last flight of the day when we missed our connecting flight in Atlanta we were forced to re book for the following day. My wife and I were very upset. It is human nature to want to lash out at someone when you feel you have been dealt an injustice, and we did. In retrospect I now realize that the Delta employees were victims as well. Our flight was not the only flight that was delayed and there many hundreds of stranded travelers trying to find a way home. Naturally we all thought that our plight was more important than all of the others. There were people yelling and swearing and carrying on. We got to a Delta phone and spoke to a representative and we found seats on a return trip the following day (at 9:00 P.M.). This did not make us happy but at least we had another flight. Through all of this the Delta employees were able to keep up a happy face and talk to each upset traveler as if their problems were the most important. We got a voucher for a room (seedy but palatable) and a ride to and from. When we got there the next morning we got a standby ticket for a 2:09 flight to Las Vegas. It was not first class but at least it was a way home. We got on the flight and arrived in Las Vegas to find our luggage was there and they had it secured at a Delta desk. We lost a day and we were forced to cramp in a tight seat (I am 6' 4" tall and weigh 275 lbs.) but we made it! The Delta employees did rise to the occasion and managed to maintain a professional demeanor in the face of overwhelming hostility from a host of unhappy travelers. I was originally going to write a bad review but I now realize that the Delta employees were actually awesome, they did not engage in bantering with travelers even though many travelers were spoiling for a fight and they tried to make everyone feel comfortable. The delay sucked. It was not the fault of Delta Airlines. I applaud the staff and I will definitely fly Delta in the future.
