Attending CES is something I look forward to every year. Being a Vegas local makes it a bit easier to enjoy the event without the hassles involved with flying in and out, arranging for a hotel, etc.
If you're reading this review you already know what CES is. If you've never been your first time stepping into the Las Vegas Convention Center will blow your mind. By your 4th time you'll know how to quickly find the good stuff from the mundane and crap stuff...and you'll be able to see what you need to see quickly without wasting time. (Avoid the outer edge exhibitors in the East hall for example).
Tips: Wearing comfortable shoes is a must. The Las Vegas Convention Center is vast. Your feet will take a pounding from walking on so much concrete.
Pick up your badge before the event...you can get your badge at McCarran and not have to wait in long lines at the event to get it.
Always bring a portable battery so you can charge devices on the go. Charging outlets are hard to come by.
Take the Monorail to get there. And buy your monorail tickets in advance to save money. The monorail is a bit of a cattle call and it can get crowded but it's cheaper, and faster than waiting on a taxi or Uber.
You can't really do CES in just one day. You'll miss out on so much if you speed through it.
Always be skeptical. Some items that you see there never seem to make it to store shelves.
In short...if you can go, by all means go. Once you attend you'll never see consumer electronics the same way again. When it comes time to buy a new TV for example, you'll know many of the products on the shelves are crap. You'll know what's coming soon...and you can make informed buying decisions that will help you save thousands later on.
(If you're one of those who creates products and are a member or affiliate of CEA, the connections you can make here can dramatically change your business...and your life.)
5 Stars: Worth the hassle of going...and it never fails to inspire and excite!
