My girlfriend and I were hankering for a late-night dessert on our last night in Toronto, so we checked on Yelp what might be open at 11 PM and made our way over to Bakerbots despite some trouble with our car's headlights (annoying people by only having working brights is worth it to satisfy a sugar craving). It's a small but cute little shop that has one table inside and a couple of benches that you can sit on to enjoy your dessert. Unfortunately a few of the flavors were gone, but they still did have ginger cookies and cinnamon ice cream handy - always a good pairing. The ginger cookies weren't overly ginger-y (like ginger snaps can be), and the cookie was still soft despite the late hour. Paired with pitch-perfect cinnamon ice cream, we had ourselves a perfectly done ice cream sandwich. At $5.50, it's a pretty reasonable price for the quality. We also took a slice of banana bread with chocolate chips to go. I wouldn't say it's as delicious as the ice cream sandwich, but it was nice to eat banana bread that would have pockets of chocolate appear in your mouth. I have no idea if $1.50 is the fair price for this - the guy at the register had no clue either, which probably isn't the greatest thing in the world.
All in all, this is a delightful little shop that makes some really good sweets. I'd love to try some of their cakes and macaroons next time I'm back, but the initial indication from what we had is that it's a winner for sure.
