| - I popped into Ride Awake Bikes the other day to fantasize about what's in store this summer. Some people post pictures of tropical beaches on facebook to make themselves feel better, I go into complete denial... it's almost bike season, right?
Last summer I didn't bike at all. It was a busy time, and my partner doesn't own a bicycle, so I let my old dear Clementine die a slow death locked up on Queen W. I felt horrible about this. As you can tell, with a name like Clementine, she had been seriously anthropomorphized and I thought of her as a dear friend...
OK. I'm seriously digressing into my own bike psychology. Let's get to the point.
I need a bike, and I'm going to purchase it from Ride Away. They are fun and approachable people, and the prices seem right. While I was looking at bikes, they patiently walked me through my options and were very understanding that I wouldn't be bringing it home on that day in January. No pressure or upselling at all. Brilliant.
A woman popped in to pick up her freshly tuned bike (does she have winter tires? Is that a thing?) while I was playing with bike bells and other doohickeys, and she remarked very loudly on how cheap it was, and thanked them profusely. They then helped her figure out where to buy some computer cords she needed in the neighbourhood. Again, just really great people.
Excellent customer service, no pretension and pretty bikes at great prices. Don't waste your time being bike-shamed for lots of money at other hipster shops, Ride Away is the best.
Brrring Brrring! (That's the sound of a bike bell.) Brrrring Brrrring!
