  • I have rented from Enterprise for years. I have never had a problem. Recently my wife and I traveled to Baton Rouge from Las Vegas to visit family. Prior to travelling I made all of the arrangements including reserving a rental car. I did not use any travel planning or discount companies but went directly to Enterprise as usual. I made a reservation for a luxury vehicle. I usually rent from Enterprise because they have pickup trucks, I also have a working relationship with the local management and because of that I have been loyal. When I was on the website I specifically looked to make sure they were okay with debit cards. In the past I have received calls when the time exceeded the estimated amount and was able to make another payment. It was a pain in the ass but tolerable. I am 6' 4" tall and weigh 275 lbs. for this reason I like to have a truck or a larger car to accommodate my length and girth. So when I got to Baton Rouge you can imagine my surprise when I was informed that I could not rent a luxury car or a pickup truck with my debit card. I was very upset to say the least. We did not have a credit card with us. Here I am 1,400 miles from home on a trip to visit family, I made all of the necessary arrangements days ahead and now I find out I have to rent a mid size car. We ended up with a jeep of some sort. It was not comfortable. If I had known I would have made other arrangements. This is the worst possible scenario to be far from home and be stranded. The only option I had at this time was to take what they would give me. The person at the rental office was not very nice but I'm sure she was just doing her job. What is the reason that I can rent 1 vehicle but not the other? It doesn't make sense. If I have a propensity to steal I will take what I can take so that doesn't make sense. I am very disappointed with this policy and will rethink my past loyalty to a company that does not deliver what it promises.
