  • My roommate was looking for some nice chrome rims to match the other chrome details on his bling'd but admittedly pretty slick Mini-S convertible. For the record, rims are one of those things that I had no idea what a market value was until we shopped around and wow, they're not cheap. That said, if I'm going to spend that kind of money on an accessory, yes an ACCESSORY that some may view as a status symbol of wealth, then I'm going to want the same attention to detail and fuss that I would purchasing something else of this price - jewelery or other element of extravagance. So we parked in the Rancho/Craig plaza - which really has a mixed bag of stores and I didn't know what to expect - sandwiched between the laundromat and the hookah/tobacco store. We were greeted by loud rap music. That's fine - except that this music pouring out of the store wasn't PG-13 rated and had a lot of ugly words - if I had kids, I'd be quite upset just to be walking by let alone walking in and giving money. So we ignore the obnoxious music and stroll around. Not a very large selection of rims, small space, but from what I understand they have a garage in the back where they do all this work, (earning them a second star.) The strange part of it was that the wives/girlfriends of the gentlemen who were chatting with the employees were sitting at this couch in the middle of the room and were staring at a blank television screen like they were waiting for a show or something to start but for the ten minutes we were there - nothing was on. It was surreal. The main kicker of this place was that we went through the tiny inventory for about ten minutes, waiting for someone to greet us or ask us if we had questions or anything and we got nothing. They were more interested in making small talk with others in there that had nothing to do with rims or tints or vehicles. And in lieu of that, we went for ice cream. Who cares about status symbols when you're hungry?
