I dont understand the allure of Co op. I think that it has become just one of those things that people just embrace because they believe it is better. A good example of that is Tim Hortons coffee.. the coffee itself is ok, its the heavy cream that makes it delicious... anyhow I digress....
Calgary coop downtown has 2 good things going for it. Location ( for me) and the great veggie, bakery section. No complaints there ( other than the ridiculously high prices).
My major issues with coop are that it is very overpriced even compared to safeway.... and the aisles are tiny with wicked lineups at the cash registers. Sure, they take your groceries out to your car if you like. As a relatively young guy, I wont be using that service until I am an old bloke.
At least at safeway they have buy one get one free sales and roomier aisles. I have been a member with coop for about 6 years and have never received a refund cheque.
For those who think that Co op is the bees knees... then thats great. For me it is just an overpriced grocery store.
