  • All Starbuck's are created equal and give the exact experience. "Buzz," the lie detector went off. All Starbuck's are as different as Las Vegas Casino resorts. This review discusses a Starbuck's location that is totally different than let's say the Summerlin Town Center. For over ten years this Starbuck's has been serving coffee drinkers at the Albertson's - anchored shopping center where Boulder Highway and Tropicana intersect. Starbuck's has survived in a location where the immediate area at the Boulder and Tropicana intersection gives the perception of being tough. What makes me say this? This is one of a few Starbuck's that requires a key to access the restroom. I am in cognizant of any other suburban location in Las Vegas where customers need a key to get in the restroom. Across Tropicana Avenue is Sportsman Manor the extended stay that has been in the news for the wrong reason. A Metro surveillance camera on the Sportsman Manor property is a red flag that the criminal shadow is lurking here. Nextstore at 7-Eleven, it is usual to see the homeless approaching people for money and taking begging to a new level by trying to clean customer's windshield for money. The last example I will mention is that during a previous visit a subhuman stole the baristas' tip jar. This has been a Starbuck's that I have been visiting on and off since September 2004 when I moved to Las Vegas. In Starbuck's style, it serves as a third place living room selling the familiar quality coffee that has taken the world by storm. Besides the fact that the immediate area around Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue appears sketchy, this is an ideal location for a coffee shop. First off, it is near Wetlands Park and the Boulder Strip. Oftentimes I have dropped by before or after visiting these attractions. It is also near the Whitney Library, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library that is close to Henderson. After taking out library books, I might get acquainted with one over a cup of coffee. This is one of if the only freestanding Starbuck's along the Boulder Highway/Fremont Street (Route 582) corridor. In the past when driving southeast bound from downtown Las Vegas to a Henderson surface street in major traffic, I'd take a breather here. I find Starbuck's a respite from the asphalt jungle. This is a relatively small Starbuck's. It could use a remodel. There are a few tables and not many couches. This happens to be one of those locations where the sun glare is a nuisance. Especially in the summer. It does have a drive-thru. Starbuck's is a coffee chain serving identical beverages in stores that are as different as Boulevard Mall and Red Rock Canyon. Every Starbuck's location is unique and serves a purpose. From my personal experience, in the last ten-plus years this Starbuck's has served the purpose of serving me my dear coffee in a place where I relax when passing by in the vicinity of Boulder Highway at Tropicana Avenue.
