In hindsight I should have checked yelp before going in. So many 1 star reviews it's like an Echo Chamber. I guess I'll add mine.
I went in Thursday to test drive a Hyundai Genesis Coupe and see what the deal was about. I kept seeing Planet Hyundai's ads everywhere. I test drove it and from the moment I got out of the car the salesman wanted to make a deal. I wasn't entirely ready to buy as I haven't talked to the girlfriend. So I left with a promise to talk to her and come back to next day.
Talked to her - No Go. Spoke to the Salesman and explained everything. Then, Spent the weekend and though about it and talked about it and changed our minds. So I got up early at 6AM to go in before my shift and be there at 7 when they open. Go in get the paperwork going and hang out waiting on the Sales Manager. He pulls into the log blaring extremely loud rap music in what appeared to be one of the company cars... Ok. I listen to that too so it's whatever.
We sit down and the salesman goes back to speak to the Sales Manager and I can hear the Sales Manager yelling at the Salesman "Did he finally get his girlfriends approval? Is he ready to make a deal finally?" ... Ok, Whatever. He brings out the numbers, the deal and it seems a big high. I call the girlfriend and get approval, but to me they seem high. So I ask if he can go lower by 20$/Month.
20$/Month isn't an extreme difference right? Especially when the very online calculators i'm using show payments should be low 500s for 30,500$.
At any rate the Salesman goes "Hold on let me check". He walks back to the Sales Manager and the Sales Manager conversation goes like this... I heard everything as the Sales Manager was yelling.
Salesman: Unintelligible.
Sales Manager: [Yelling] DID YOU GET HIM TO ACCEPT THE NUMBERS I GAVE YOU?
Salesman: Unintelligible
Sales Manager: [Yelling Even Louder] DID YOU GET HIM TO ACCEPT THE NUMBERS I GAVE YOU?!
I left right then. If your Sales Manager treats his own employees like that and the customers with disrespect.. When they want you to buy from them? How will they treat you when you need service or have an issue?
The kicker? The only reason I was there was because the Salesman was so nice and understanding. I know damn well I can go to Centennial Ford and get a 2015 Ford Mustang for less and in a better color. But I stuck around for the salesman who even offered to buy oil changes out of his own pocket to sweeten the deal and get my girlfriend to sign off.
What a horrible predatory dealer. Run, Don't walk away.
