  • From a Mongolian-Barbeque Fan! I was talking with another business owner who also moved here from CA and told him I heard a new Mongolian BBQ restaurant was coming to town. He said they'd had one here before (over by Independence?) but it didn't go over well, because I think they used mongolian BBQ in their name (as most of them do in socal) and the locals (he may have said 'rednecks') went in and said 'hey -- war's the BBQ????' ;-) If you haven't experienced this kind of eating before...go give it a try. It's basically stir fry. You pick the meats you want, put 'em in the bowl. Pick your veggies, load 'em on in there. Want an egg? Put on up there,... the grill masters will scramble it and add it to your mix. Then you choose whether you want white or brown rice, noodles, even a tortilla. They'll grill it all up and serve on top of the starch of your choosing.! YUM. We went to try Genghis Grill last week and it was really good. Here's a tip -- you squish the food down in the bowl so you can fit alot. In CA, you have a plate to put your bowl on, and a small plate to keep your hands clean if you want to squish the contents down! The theory being that if you just fill the bowl to the top, by the time it cooks down during grilling, you'll be left with about a cup of food. So pile high, friends... it's good stuff!! Also -- they will give you samples of the sauces that go on at the end..but remember that it will probably come out hotter than you expect. My brother joined the group of us that went last week, and he told the lady at the sauce counter he doesn't really like hot things. She suggested two, which he tried, and then ladled on. By the time it cooked all thru the meat and veggies, it was REALLY hot and almost too much for him. But he did manage to eat it all... maybe he's becoming a fan of pepper-heat. Look forward to going again soon... it's kind of addictive.
