The shop is small and you have to bend down to see everything that is in the display cases. A little worrysome since you figure that all the stuff that is kinda "hidden" probably doesn't move very quickly and might not be too fresh. They are friendly and attentive if you have questions about anything. I didn't care for the fact that they didn't let me look around a bit before asking me what I wanted, that's a pet peeve of mine when walking into a bakery. (How do I know what I want when I haven't even had a chance to see what you offer? )
Cherry pocket/danish. 2 Stars. It was plump full of cherry filling but the puff pastry was undercooked. It was barely brown on the outside and the underside of the pastry was only half-baked. Disappointing.
Turtle Brownie: 4 stars. Really just a brownie with some walnuts and a squirt of caramel on top, not a true "turtle brownie". Plus turtles should have pecans, not walnuts. However, the brownie was big and fudgey and delicious, I'd like to get some just-plain-nut-brownies here sometime.
Boston Cream Cupcake: 5 stars Perfect authentic yellow spongecake with a little vanilla cream filling and deliciously covered in chocolate fudge ganache. They were cupcake size and I wish they were slightly bigger, just as I was really enjoying the whole creation, it was gone. But two of them wouldda been just too much.
