| - Guys, lemme tell you a story of a sweaty lady on the search for a cool treat. I'm sure you can guess that sweaty lady was your humble narrator here in the pits of hell aka Phoenix in July.
My pals and I were stoked for some tasty treats after dinner at Postino. Originally we were going to hit up Churn but had read about Creamistry in the paper and decided to try something new this fine (terrible) evening. Uptown Plaza was POPPIN' and I don't blame it, what with all the new businesses they have been putting in there over the last year. We headed into Creamistry and stood in line for about 15 minutes, which gave us more than enough time to chegggg out that menu. Holy cannoli the combinations!
You choose your base (Vegan: Coconut milk or Sorbet base. Dairy: Organic or Classic Super Premium), then your flavor, then any mix ins or toppings, and a special bowl (brownie, waffle, or chocolate shell) if you're feeling majorly froggy. Then, the fine folks here at Creamistry with their degrees in Rad Science use their handy mixers and liquid nitrogen to mix and freeze your individual item. It's quite the show and clouds of vapor come billowing from the ice cream, so if you're put off by the price (which I'll admit can seem kind of steep in comparison to other places), remember that you're getting a handcrafted and personalized treat AND a show. They also have recommendations on their menu so you don't have to think or feel overwhelmed. I know a lot of people said they felt overwhelmed but like...that sort of bugs me. You are being given options that are all awesome. It's not like Cheesecake Factory where they give you options that are all pretty gnarly. Be happy you live in a world with thousands of ice cream combinations at your spoon!
I chose cheesecake ice cream (super premium base) with Reeses cups mixed in and strawberries on top. I got the small size bc I assumed adults were not allowed to get kids' cups. Logic be damned! Adults ARE allowed! I have no regrets because although I had more ice cream than my pals who ordered separately, I also got to enjoy more ice cream sooo who really wins? I definitely would have been fine with a kids' size though is the moral of that story. My ice cream took probably about 7 minutes after we ordered for it to come out. Again, compared to standard ice cream shops, this is a while but remember the whole deal here guys.
Was it damn tasty? Heck yeah. My only other frame of reference for cheesecake ice cream was from when I worked for a place that rhymes with Old Phone Dreamery and while that shit was aight, it always had a very artificial taste to it, which I guess is fine when you're 16. This cheesecake ice cream the real MVP. Because it was their grand opening weekend, Creamistry was VERY busy and so we didn't linger, eating that ice cream at a quick pace and peacin' out before we endured anymore of the shit show that is a group of people waiting in a line. There is a lot of seating in this place and a large grassy area outside for when it's not so roasty toasty.
Will I come here often? Probably not. Will I tell my friends about it and post on snapchat? Duhhhh. Will I be back? Of course.
