I'm beyond stoked that State street is getting more hip but casual Asian places like Rollicious ice cream.
Rollicious offers Thai rolled ice cream as well as Hong Kong style egg waffles and ice cream doughnut sandwiches (pretty much all the ways ice cream is served on Instagram).
While I usually find rolled ice cream and egg waffles to be photogenic but gross to eat, I found that the opposite was true at Rollicious. All the egg waffles that I've had in the past were hardly tastier than a communion wafer. The waffle at Rollicious is GOOD. It's hot and fluffy but crispy on the edges. The scooped ice cream had a cheap texture, but it went well with the fluffy texture of the waffle. There wasn't enough of it in the waffle though, so it looks kind of awkward in pictures.
The rolled ice cream wasn't packed into the bowl well, and it was kind of ugly if I had to be honest. Still, it had a good texture and flavor.
I'll be back for sure, especially since this kind of dessert is great to have after eating Asian cafe food from next door. Seriously, they couldn't have picked a better location.
