| - I have come to this Safeway for years. It used to be a wonderful store. Well, Rest in Peace.
Ever since the acquisition by Albertson's, my Safeway experience has been completely ruined. Until today I didn't feel compelled to write anything, but I have reached the breaking point! I went in today just to grab some odds and ends to finish dinner and I couldn't find the taco seasoning anywhere! No big deal, let me check a few other sections of the store.
Hispanic foods: no.
Spices: no. Rice: no.
Meat: no.
So I decided to ask for help. I couldn't find anyone to help me ANYWHERE. Everyone was at the check out stations. Finally I tracked someone down and asked where the taco seasoning was. He didn't know either! After searching the aisles we found it with the gravy packets.
The. Gravy. Packets.
Really? Whatever, I had what I needed and I proceeded to the check out. Only guess what? This location no longer has self-checkout. So I had to wait in a very long line just to purchase 4 items. Three's a crowd? How about seven! I had a horrible time in the store today, but my overall experience in Safeway is always subpar these days.
I have never been an Albertson's shopper for a reason! I am so unhappy, I have decided never to shop at Safeway again, either. In case you need more convincing, here is a list:
-Lack of selections (where are all my old Safeway brands??)
-Lack of ambiance (I hate the "Just Better" campaign as it only reminds me of what once was)
-Completely ridiculous store layout (taco seasoning is only the beginning - I can never find what I'm looking for)
-Understaffing (why can't I find anyone to help me at 6 pm on a weekday?)
-Slow checkout (I never had to wait this long when Safeway owned Safeway)
-Lack of self checkout (thanks for taking me back to the dark ages, Albertson's)
I'm sorry you got bought out, Safeway. I will miss you dearly.
