  • This airport is OK. It used to be better. I especially liked it when I was about 7 years old and it looked like the airport in a Kubrick science fiction movie and they showed free little 20-minute films on subjects like "how cheese is made" and "Beautiful Norway" and the like, in the lobby for you to pass the time. Obviously that was a Very Long Time Ago Cuz I'm Old OK. Fast forward to now...they are in the process of renovating part of the concourse and have closed a number of the food places, shops and the chapel (where I used to pop in to pray for guidance with my wack Cleveland family and friends and also ask nicely that my plane not crash thanks). Regarding what's left in the concourse, the Ben and Jerry's is way overpriced, the Mexican restaurant has good drinks and OK food but service kinda blows, and I would like there to be a coffee option other than StarSucks. The bookstore (if that's still open) features a number of books on Cleveland landmarks, Cleveland restaurants, Cleveland food, Cleveland true crime, or by Cleveland authors. I find these books interesting to look at even if I don't buy any, although I think those have been moved from their previous spot in the front of the store to somewhere further back, so you might need to hunt for them. It's also a pain to have to take a long journey of escalators and moving sidewalks to and from the Continental terminal, but there are some very cool sculptures of travelers looking at watches on the walls, and some giant "paper airplanes" hanging over the escalators, that almost make it worth it. I will be happier with this airport when it either adds a fast security lane (like RtGO) for frequent travelers, or figures out some way to route the security line by the Continental terminal so it does not literally block the doors to the airport, the access to the check-in counters, and everything else when it gets backed up. If you're going to be renting a car at this airport, it's worth figuring out how to drive back to the airport on Rocky River Drive especially if you're returning from West Side. Rocky River Drive will run you right into the rental car center, which is kind of funky to find from the highway as it's not the same exit as the airport proper.
