| - Since reading about Alamo Drafthouse years ago in "Entertainment Weekly," I have wanted to catch a flick and a movie in one of their auditoriums. The stars aligned for my love and I to fulfill this wish: There was a Drafthouse 20 minutes from our hotel, there was a movie there we haven't seen yet, and the movie time worked out.
Things started out very promising; the box office guy was super friendly and appreciative of our virginal Alamo experience. Mai, our waitress was also great, explaining the concept and diligently taking our order.
Unfortunately the food was like an annoying movie character that drags down the entire production. My caesar wrap was dry and nearly flavorless. The chips that accompanied the wrap were ok, but seemed store-bought. The salsa helped spice up the chips, sadly the miniscule container was gone less than halfway through the chips.
My boyfriend's burger was ok, though it came on an odd onion bun that wasn't at all mentioned on the menu. Fairly unimpressed with the main course, we went all in on the fresh baked cookies and ended up two-time losers: The banana peanut butter cookie was dry and devoid of peanut butter flavor. The double chocolate chip was better, but I would have preferred generic Oreos had someone given me a choice.
During the length of one film, I went from being sad that we don't have an Alamo Drafthouse in Milwaukee to happy that my friends and family won't be subjected to such poor food.
