| - Bill's is a real diamond in the rough on the Strip. Okay, it's not a diamond, it's a really nifty-looking piece of glass.
With everything so damned expensive in Vegas, it's nice that there's a well-maintained, inexpensive option, that's nonetheless right in the middle of everything you want. For this price, your options are either far away from the action or complete rats' nests, or frequently, both.
Bill's is about as no-frills as it gets. This isn't the Bellagio or Caesar's. If you want fancy accomodations, go elsewhere. But if you want your money to be spent on more games and shows and less on a room you'll probably only shower in (who sleeps in Vegas?) I can't think of a better spot.
The room itself is decorated in a sort of turn-of-the-century western theme. Not wild west, but more of a Victorian transitioning into Edwardian era look to it (history, I has it). The beds are comfy, the bathrooms are recently updated with a nice high pressure showerhead (although it was positioned kinda low on the wall, I'm 5'10" and it was just a bit shorter than me, my 6'7" co-worker must have really had fun) and there's a nice flat screen TV on the wall if you have a few idle moments.
The room was nice and clean and smelling fresh, which was especially nice since the halls were a bit on the smoky side.
The staff was friendly and helpful, especially considering this was my first ever trip to Vegas.
As for the casino, it's cramped, loud, smelly and a ton of fun. There's a great laid-back friendly atmosphere at the place. It also has some of the cheaper tables on the strip, 5 dollars for blackjack and stuff all day long, so if you're less about the winning big and more about the playing long, it's an ideal spot. And on weekend nights, there are scantily clad ladies dancing near the tables, if that's your thing.
So yeah, it's not the centerpiece of the Las Vegas Strip, but it's surprisingly nice. There isn't a better option for the Vegas traveler on a budget.
