  • Took the gf's Honda Accord in around 10:15AM to get brakes serviced because I was hearing some noise from the rear wheels. When I lived in the OC, I had access to my dad's extensive tool set and was able to do my own auto work on my old e60 530i (coilovers, brakes, rotors, exhaust system, etc). In addition, my parents have me do work on their Mercedes GLK350's from time to time... but because I do not have the necessary tools and I don't wanna shell out several hundred dollars for a decent tool set, I decided to take my gf's car to a shop to get the brakes taken care of. After dropping off the car, the gentleman at the front said that they would call me once they took a look at it. There were 4 to 5 cars ahead of me at that time. I did not hear anything from them so I called to check up on the progress around 1pm (2.75 hours later). They said they just got the car in and would call me back in a few minutes. They called back to let me know that I needed to replace the rear brakes. In addition, they suggested that I re-surface the rotors for the front and back, which I agreed to. They then tried to up-sell me on various other services which I decided not to go with. The car was finished around 2:30pm (4.25 hours later). Price came out to $258 with a $25 discount, which is a bit high in my opinion. I can get akebono ceramic brakes for $35 a set and brand new stoptech rotors for $45 a piece. If i were to buy new rotors all around and a rear set of akebono brakes ($45 x 4 rotors + $35) it would cost me $215 + tax. While the price was a bit on the high side, they were able to successfully take care of my gf's car. The noise from the rear wheels went away and everything was done correctly.
