| - I had my wife take in our iPad 2 to fix a broken screen. She had a hard time finding the office and when she finally did, the owner was sitting on the back of a car smoking and waiting. The office is an empty shell with a desk and a person behind it that offered no help except to say that the owner will be back in a moment. When the owner came in from outside, he said that he could fix it and it would be $140...pretty much the going rate. When my wife picked it up, the owner said that the corner of the iPad was bent in a little bit and that the screen wasn't going to lay down and glue wouldn't hold it. My wife brought it to me and I asked her why it was not glued down in the one corner and she said that he told her it wouldn't and that it wont cause a problem. OK, I have 4yr old twins and one of them is Autistic...that screen doesn't stand a chance of staying down. He will get his finger nail underneath it and it would be torn off and used as a $140 Frisbee. Also, if you pushed anywhere near the home button (within 2 inches of it), it would go back a screen. I took it back to Josh the owner and as soon as I mentioned that my wife was in the day before with it, he went on super defensive mode. I said that the last place I sent the ipad away to to be fixed were able to round the corners and make it solid and flush. He said that he told my wife that he doesn't do that and she was OK with that, but "Now its a problem?" I said yes its a problem because the screen is nonfunctional because it doesn't sit flush and it just doesn't work right. He said, well I have no idea what other people did to it before, but I have installed 1000's of these and its never been a problem. Hmmmm, I'm the first one? Anyway, he was not about to help and I left the office. I took it over to DESERT WIRELESS and I was immediately greeted from behind the counter by at least 3 people who were tending to other people and made sure that I knew I was going to be taken care of as soon as possible. I showed them the problem and they said that the first thing they do is make the corners right and ready for the digitizer to sit flush. They were upfront, knowledgeable and friendly. I am always wary of new techs and businesses, but I left there feeling really good about the place. I came back to an iPad that was as if I had just taken it out of the box. Completely satisfied. I asked what the problem was with what Josh did and they said that it was a faulty digitizer that was installed and it wasn't properly set up. It was shotty all the way around. Stay away from this place...head over to DESERT WIRELESS (FYI, I don't work there, but when I find something I like, I will endorse the hell out of it). Keep smoking Josh, maybe your good at that.
