Positively the worst experience I have ever had with any TV, phone and internet provider.
After 14 years with COX I fell for the advertising mumbo jumbo and switched to Direct TV/Century Link.
They changed installation dates on me 4 times before finally installing the services. For three of the 4 dates it was a matter of "no show" and my calling to find out why the tech did not come only to learn that my appointment had been rescheduled. No courtesy call, no rescheduling call was ever received.
When I set up service I had requested to keep my existing phone number. That request was ignored and I was issued a new phone number. When I complained about it, they told me I had not made the request to keep my existing number and it would be a week before they could correct that. It took a month which delayed my phone service even longer.
After installation, I found I was not able to make long distance calls. I'd asked for full service for the phone. Several calls and long holds with their customer service I learned I had been connected with basic service with only local calling. It took three calls to customer service before I finally got someone who cared enough to try to fix it.
I only had Direct TV for about a month and a half when suddenly I stopped receiving the signal for several TV networks.
I called for service only to be told that it would cost me $99 simply for a service tech to come look at what the problem might be. They told be it was obviously the equipment and I would have to pay for replacement equipment.
I decided immediately to cancel my service.
After I cancelled (or thought I had cancelled) I received a return shipping label to return the modem and other equipment. Then I received another bill for the coming month of services. I called to tell them I had been billed for services after cancelling and the rep I spoke to told me that no cancellation request has been received. I asked how that could be when they sent me a prepaid return shipping label for the equipment? She could not answer me but at least she did the cancellation while I was on the phone with her.
My penalty for cancelling was a bill for $361.23 for "early cancellation because they say I had agreed to a term contract with the payment of my first bill.
This company is a money pit and a racket. Worst service, worst customer service.
Needless to say I am back with COX and have had no problems from day one.
