  • And The Cosmopolitan does it...yet again! Of course, who else would have done this? Business Trip #47 to Vegas: it's a Wednesday night, I think I'll just head to Lotus of Siam for dinner, check into my room at Planet Hollywood after, then hang around there or go to The Cosmo for a couple drinks on a low-key night. BUT then, I learn of The Ice Rink at the Boulevard Pool. Yes, on the roof of The Cosmo, you don't have to be a skating aficionado to love this idea. You can freeze your ass off, dance it off, skate if off, whatevs! Mondays are "Date Skate" night, Thursdays are "Throwback" of course, and it just so happens that Wednesdays are "Industry Skate" which their site describes as "The most renowned DJs in Las Vegas turn The Ice Rink into an outdoor club scene for a nightlife experience unlike any other." Are you freaking kidding me? Screw the early morning meeting I have the next day, it's going down! You go up to the 4th floor, head outside, and experience: Ice Ice baby, roof top Strip views, music, firepits, a bar, benches, and cocktails with marshmellows in them. And it's $15 if you skate (or $10 for locals), which you don't have to do. Admission into the area itself is free if you just wanna check it out or dine. Now, billing it as an outdoor club scene is a bit overblown. There were still little kids, young teens, and grandpa here around 11pm, which I've never encountered at a club (although teens at a club sounds like a dream come true to R. Kelly). Plus, no one was bearing much skin (well, except for granny). People were skating at all different paces, and falling at different places. It's more fun if you have something to drink before hitting the rink. I couldn't tell if the DJ was wearing Beats or if those were ear muffs. They started The Ice Rink last year, but I never knew about it 'til now. Who cares about Secret Pizza? This is Secret Ice! Obviously it's a limited seasonal offering, so if you're in Vegas during the Winter, it's a great excuse to spend some time outside.
