  • You can tell the educational system is in denial of failure by looking at some of the reviews. People getting out of air conditioned cars or tour buses, kids with the earbuds on, plugged into their iPhone, wondering WTF?? It's a big slab of concrete. Not realizing that the reason they are able to get here the way they did, and enjoy the ride the way they did, was in large part because of this big slab of concrete, The way it got financed (very little tax payer money plus they got it paid back in multiples, unlike today) the technology it took to develop and build it plus the people that built it, changed the world... If you take the tour with your eyes hazed over from casino smoke and ears closed from the surrounding narratives, you miss the experience (kind like your life) . My recommendation is to see it from the Hoover Dam bypass bridge first. Take it all in. the size, the location, the surrounding topography. Than go in and take the basic $11 tour. Put yourself in 1931. Single paycheck families, 30% unemployment rate, Long food lines, no social service net (food stamps, welfare, etc..) - A dam being built in the middle of nowhere. A project larger than the Pyramids. Hazardous job site, few safety tools or laws. 8 day work weeks! No such thing as paid vacations or time off because you didn't feel like getting up. Than after the tour, sit back and look at it again. We, the people of America... Did something the rest of the world said could not be done. We - The American People, brought life to the desert and allowed us to move westward. Now imagine trying to get this built today.? Yea, its a cool look back to when America was down, but not out and we did it! A great tour.
