| - I'm confused as to the many many spectacular reviews about this place, but I know it all comes down to a particular set of circumstances. The thing is, I went in with high hopes based on reviews from other yelpers.. I was sorely disappointed with what I ended up with. I can't go into too much detail because I do believe that the particular 'artist' that did my work, really was to blame for the shoddy work. I couldn't even let him finish with the color, because the outline was so bad. I don't want to ruin the rep of all of the artists that work there, but this one was really bad. I liken him more to someone that can trace a design and transfer it to a stencil. When it came time to do details, it was really very amateur looking and childish in design.
I got a koi on my forearm to go with alot of the other Japanese style art on my arm, and when it came to the scales and shading on the fish, and the detail on the fins.. it was all really, really bad and looked as though someone had doodled a drawing on my forearm.
Not cool for a permanent tattoo.
I had to go to another tattoo artist after I called Atomic a couple of times to try and get it worked on, and was repeatedly told the artist would be away or out of town.
Eventually I gave up trying to go there to get fixed, as the money I spent was no where worth what I got and they kept blowing me off. I have found another artist at a different shop who has been working on me since.. and to paraphrase what he said when he first saw the tattoo that i got at Atomic City.. "I'm just glad you are still wanting tattoos after having such bad work done like this".. yeah it was that crazy looking.
Please consider that there are so many awesome artists and the one guy I got to work on me at Atomic may not be the one you will get/might talk to. Just consider that we have so many artists in town that are amazing.
One star reviews are a nearly 'never happens' kind of thing.. but this is permanent and I am having to spend more time/money getting the tat fixed rather than enjoying what I thought would be an awesome piece. Better luck to you.
