| - I visited this store a couple months before when I was not planning on starting a saltwater aquarium, it's small but they have a lot of cool stuff. I was not greeted but when I worked my way to the front the young guy at the counter asked if I needed help and was friendly, gave me his card. So, forward a couple months later I decide I'm going to start a saltwater tank and I checked out this store online and seems to have some good reviews so why not?
I already knew what I wanted and have a tank that was ready and intended to buy fish that day, as I walk in a man and his son walk in with me, we are all looking in the fish aisle, the lady (the owner) helps them out and so I am looking around and standing there waiting for my turn. Not going anywhere, clearly interested in something and actually standing quite near them as she's helping them waiting in line. So they finish and some other guy walks in the door, she helps them, that's fine whatever. So I just keep looking in the small isle waiting. Eventually, she disappears somewhere and didn't give me the time of day. A man then comes to the register while helping a guy with reptile stuff so I wait for them to finish and tell the man I'd like to buy fish, he says his wife handles that and goes and gets her. I'm thinking this is very bad customer service as she clearly saw me waiting there all that time in the fish aisle and never even came back to ask me if I needed anything (I never got the chance to ask her for help as I didn't want to interrupt). I was already quite put off by this bad service from the owner no less but I decided to purchase anyway. So I bought a clown and a royal gramma, I was not able to look closely at the royal before I bought it as he was hiding under the rock so she just bagged it. Well a couple hours later when I could get a good look at it after acclimation the fish was COVERED in either ich or marine velvet, think it may have been the velvet... I will never make this mistake again, I will always inspect a fish and never trust a shop and also use QT but I don't see how she could not have known that this fish was sick. The royal died in less than 24 hrs and the clown who was fine for a couple days was of course infected by the parasite and died a couple days later :( so I was out about $40 bucks and had to quarantine my tank for 6-10 weeks. They offered credit but I didn't want to purchase anything else from them. My water parameters were absolutely good and I've since bought more fish who are fine. Lesson learned. Perhaps if it was just the case of the fish issue I would give them another try but combined with the poor customer service, not again.
