I had a neighbor attempt to "fix" my PH level in my pool and it turned out badly. When we took a water sample to B & L they sold me $60 worth of chemicals to put in my pool. I did what they said and the pool went from pea green to a brown foamy mess. I decided to take a sample to another pool store on the west side, EverKlear. I showed them pictures and told them what I had added. Apparently the bottle of algae killer that B & L sold me only works in conjunction with a sanitizer (shock or chlorine). The bottle clearly states this also. It also states that you should have your water tested for metal because if there is any metal present in your water you must add a certain chemical before adding the algae killer or the product will stain your pool.
I am not a pool expert or a chemist and I rarely read the information on the bottle. I always take a pool stores advice assuming they know what they are talking about and up till now it has always turned out okay.
As you can probably guess my pool is stained with dark purple almost black stains over most of my pool. From a distance you may think I have a Pebble Tec finish that is how dark these stains are. I have spent over $300 to get my water clear and it's going to cost me more once the weather cools down to get rid of the stains caused by the advice of B & L Pools.
I will never recommend this store to anyone ever again and obviously I will never go there again either. They can give you bad advice and you are the one that it will cost in the end. If I had not taken a water sample to them then I would not have been so angry but they knew what I was dealing with and they should know the products they sell people. I will go 15 miles out of my way to get advice on my pool from now on.
