  • I went to Santo for a hair trim and color because I had to cancel an appointment with my regular stylist and she was booked. I thought I would try Santo because of positive reviews, but unfortunately I did not have a pleasant experience at the salon. My stylist, Courtney, did not listen to what I wanted. Instead she chopped many extremely short layers into my hair. The layers were so bad that it actually caused the bottom of my hair to flip up. I have very healthy hair, I get it trimmed every 5-6 weeks. This is the first time I ever left a salon with my hair looking less healthy than when I walked in. The ends were rough and frizzy and I had little fly aways sticking up all over my head. It's almost as if she was using dull scissors but I suppose this could also be due to lack of skill. I will also note she left me waiting for so long with toner on my hair that my scalp was burning. I was in tears by the time I got home. I called the salon and went back in a few days later - the owner tried to fix what he could (some of the rough ends) but said because the layers were so short he would have to wait for it to grow out before he could continue. He offered me a free hair cut in 8 weeks. That was nice of him, but I had such a bad experience that I did not want to return. I wanted to go to my regular trusted stylist so I ended up asking for a refund instead. I would have rather asked for my hair back if that was an option! They did not return my phone calls about the refund for weeks. I called several times and was told I would receive a call back to discuss the refund but no one ever called. The fact that they ignored me like this, not calling when they said they would, is very unprofessional and I expect much better service from a salon like this. Eventually Santo gave me a refund which is why I updated my review to 2 stars, but they did not have a very nice attitude toward me. I cannot speak for the other stylists or services offered at Santo, but based on the outcome of my hair as well as the unprofessional manner in which the refund was handled by them, I would not recommend this salon.
