| - I have experienced the deliciousness of Lemongrass Cafe many times and I never walk away disappointed. Although it's located inside a 50's diner, that should not deter you from enjoying the incredible food. The smell of the food being cooked when you first walk in, is enough to convince you that this place does it right.
I first heard about Lemongrass in a review in the Las Vegas Weekly magazine and instantly wanted to try it. Ever since my trip to Germany last year, I've wanted to find a place here that has amazing Pho. What is funny is that out of the many times I have eaten at Lemongrass, I have only had their Pho once. It's not to say that their Pho isn't good, it's I have found their Bun Cha Gio Chay to be absolutely amazing. This dish is my dish whenever I come here, which can be a bad thing since I so torn between it and trying something new. They must put something amazing in those vegetarian eggrolls because you will be wanting more just after one bite.
Their menu is quite extensive and I sure even the pickiest eater can find something to eat. Whether you are a carnivore to vegetarian there is something for everyone here. One other wonderful thing about Lemongrass is the complimentary hot or iced Jasmine tea. Although most might not enjoy the unsweetened taste of jasmine tea, I always order this to go along with food. Very few restaurants offer tea for free so this automatic gold stars in my book.
Food:
Bun Cha Gio Chay is a rice vermicelli noodle dish with shredded lettuce, basil, cucumber, bean sprouts, peanuts, and a garlic sauce with shredded carrots. You can order this dish any number of ways with or without meat as well as with or without eggrolls. I always order the one with the vegetarian eggrolls and you would never know that this is absolutely no meat in these. It is a simple dish that was a little deceptive at first. My very first bite I thought it was just ok but as you continue to eat it gets better and better until you are hooked.
Pho Ga is their chicken pho and this dish I have only tried as take out. The broth was fragrant and not heavy at all. When adding the sides of bean sprouts, lime, basil, jalapenos, and other herbs, it all balanced well with the beef broth. They do not skimp on the added condiments of the soup(had enough left over it actual make a dish but had no clue as to what to make), but as far as the chicken I was a little disappointed on the amount given. The Pho was wonderful and I will definitely order it when I am not taking it as take out.
Vegetarian Eggrolls are magical! This was a side order to the Pho as take out and they were no different than if I was sitting in the restaurant. These fried, crispy pieces of goodness are filled with tofu, clear noodles, taro, jicama, carrot, white onion, black mushrooms, and served with garlic soy sauce. I have to have these every time I go to Lemongrass. They are a must and are the best eggrolls I have ever had.
