  • If you're a fan of the movie, I feel like you're in for a treat! I'm not a huge fan and I mostly came because my boyfriend was SUPER psyched to check this place out. We visited in the middle of July, so it was hot- but the house, museum, and gift shop are all air conditioned. You buy your tickets in the gift shop, which is cool but everything was pretty overpriced. However, we had a very strange experience waiting for our tour to start. A random man approached my boyfriend and told him he noticed that I had a sign of witchcraft tattooed on my arm. (Um, just in case you need clarification... I don't have any witchcraft symbols tattooed on me.) He then asked my boyfriend if it would be okay if I followed him down the street to his house because he has a witchcraft museum in his basement. (People of Yelp, I'm not joking!) He stated he was the curator of The Christmas Story House Museum and he also curates his own museum in his basement. After he was done explaining his "museum", he immediately left the building, looking back at us, presumably to see if we were going to follow him. Umm, okay. Who knows if this guy truely runs the museum here at The Christmas Story house, but if he does, I feel like someone should talk to this guy and maybe let him know to keep his witchy basement project to himself. Most people aren't going to willingly follow you into your basement murder fortress. Maybe he was a random stranger and not associated with The Christmas Story House at all, but either way, it was scary and not a great experience. Other than the witchy weirdo, the tour was fun and provided lots of facts and trivia. The musuem has plenty of cool artifacts and stuff to look at. Come check this place out, I'd say it's definitely worth the $12/per person fee. Just be wary of anyone asking you to come visit their sketchy basement museum!
