Matt in customer service seems to need several courses in Wal Mart policies and procedures, as well as a retread of the basics in customer service. He clearly displayed a lack of knowledge in how to do anything that was asked of him in this simple return without a receipt of a gifted item. It's a shame that what should have been a quick transaction turned into an awkward mess.
His only plan of action for this return was to contact the person who gave us the gift we were attempting to return and get their credit card number in order for him to do anything with the item.
Fortunately a competent member of staff, Stacey, stepped in and returned the item for us in seconds. I understand that I cannot expect top service, or anyone with a functioning IQ from Wal Mart, but this was truly a surprising level of awful from a generally terrible company.
