Within 5 minutes, this is just a sample of the many times I was addressed as "Bella":
"oh Bella... how YOU doin today?"
"Hey there BELLA - WHERE YOU GOING??!?!" - (when I tried to LEAVE!)
"so Bella so what are you making tonight with ground meat? Burgers, Steaks?"
- I responded finally, to which he COMPLETELY IGNORED ME, diverted his attention to a male customer and started a whole other conversation.
PRO TIP FOR THE OWNERS/ MANAGEMENT:
Addressing a woman by the way she looks *IS SEXIST*, regardless if it's intended to be a compliment or a term of endearment - do NOT make comments about women's appearances.
The way your staff looks at and speaks to women is cringe worthy - and I have spoken with several other women who have felt the same way in your store and avoid it it all costs.
I'd suggest going to up another butcher shop in Toronto...one that's nice to you, speaks to you with respect, out buying dinner like anyone else - as opposed to a dumb doorknob "Bella" that needs guidance in her meal planning from the all-knowing machismo butchers.
It's 2017. Have some manners.
