  • Ok...So last year (2009) was the first time we stayed in an all suite, casino/smoke free type of hotel. We stayed at the Trump which I have to say was very impressive. Unfortunately, once you try these "type" of hotels, you never want to go back to the norm. So this year we tried another. After reading other reviews i anticipated the Signature to be the "cream of the crop". I booked our 1 bedroom suite back in March (2010) and got a sweet deal through the Signature MGM Grand website. After registering with the site I started receiving additional offers which I took advantage of in May. I was taking my fiancĂ©e, cousin, sister and friends to the Lady Gaga concert (08/13/2010) at the MGM so I wanted to stay as close as possible. To begin, lets start with the customer service: Every time I called to make a change or speak with someone they were always courteous and helpful. By the time July rolled around I had read more reviews and noticed the ones where people mentioned to request Tower 1 when staying at the "Sig". So I called again and requested Tower 1. Fortunately it was available (at least this is what the custm. service lady told me on the phone). Its funny how the website tells you that they will try to accommodate most request, then the customer service lady on the phone tells me my request was granted and I'll be staying in Tower 1, then you drive up to the "fancy" secure gated entrance (the day of) they look up your name, and "magically" my request for Tower 1 is nowhere to be found. So the gate monitor goes and slaps a Tower 3 Valet paper on the dashboard and tells us to "drive forward". I wanted to be as close as possible to the MGM Grand which is why I requested Tower 1 in the first place, so I spoke with the front desk (check-in Rep) at Tower 1 anyway to see if she could work something out. Walking in to Tower 1, it seemed like everyone on the property was requesting Tower 1. It was quite busy and the look on the receptionist's face already said "no" even before I asked anything. I asked anyway and she was nice enough to offer me a Tower 2 (1 bedroom). Nicely, she checked me in at Tower 1 so that I wouldn't have to wait again when I get to Tower 2 Just a hint after my experience: there is no point in requesting a tower ahead of time! I was told by the check-in Rep that it's a "first come/first serve" basis. Honestly though... After all that... It didn't make a huge difference which tower I was in. For one... They are all connected with a difference of 1-2 minutes in between. Also... From what people are saying about the walk to MGM, it's really not that bad at all. All three Towers had something different to offer. Tower 3 had the gym (which I did in fact use), Tower 2 had the Delights restaurant which had my favorite yogurt parfaits, and Tower 1 had the Starbucks (yum!). All 3 towers had there own pool which was great, and you can access all of them easily via a connecting walkway. It wasn't 1 big crowded pool like you find at most places. The downside to the pools was the "closing" time. The pools surprisingly closed at 7pm. Dude... It's summertime in Vegas! 7pm closing time... At the pool. WTF? They have an "adults only time called "Blue Hour" at Tower 1 on Friday/Saturday (6pm-10pm) but really, I was looking forward to the late closing time for the kids not for the adults in our party. This way they had something to do while the grownups went to do there thing. The Room: It was impressive. Unlike the Trump, we had a balcony which overlooked the pool and the backside of the strip. The room was very spacious. We secretly snuck in 7 people (comfortably) which says a lot , into our 1 bedroom. The extra 3 were all kids anyway so it wasn't bad at all. We had a kitchen with nice appliances, a huge bathroom with a jetted tub, and connecting shower. There was also an additional bathroom with an extra shower, a room with a King bed which the girls slept on, and the living room with a Queen pull out for the gents. The bedroom had a desk with a motorized flat screen TV, and the living room had a flat screen as well, as did the master bathroom. For what we came to Vegas for (Gaga @ MGM) this All-Suite hotel did us justice. I would've given this review 5 stars but (although something petty) the whole Tower request just bothers me. I found it pointless to make a request and be told something different on the day of arrival. A courtesy call would've been nice nonetheless very professional. But hey... What do you expect? We still made our stay worth while and had a great time. I would stay here again but will first check the prices at Trump where it's closer to all the action. Also, another hint: The website asks for a deposit consisting of the first night when making your reservation. However, upon arrival, be prepared to cough up the following - $100 per night for incidental charges (refundable at check-out), $20 per night (resort fee) , your nightly rate, plus applicable taxes
