| - I'm going to try and make this as short as possible... (ha ha ha)
I went to Foothill, so for a short while I had to walk across the street to CCSN (now CSN) for a few classes.
The Henderson Campus was apparently the second CCSN/CSN Campus, or so they say.
They still don't have enough buildings to accommodate students with appropriate & necessary classes/schedules. They offer degrees that require driving to the other side of the valley for core classes.
The parking lot is a joke. So is the bookstore.
I've had some decent professors here, most better than the ones I've had at UNLV, but I've also had a few not-so-great instructors.
The buildings here seem like they were built by amateurs. Probably true.
Now for my personal CSN story:
I got a letter in the mail in early 2007 saying my account was hacked and basically "not to worry." At the time, I was attending UNLV anyway. Thought nothing of it, no identity theft or anything.
I joined AmeriCorps in August of 2007, after planning everything by July 13. I packed my bags and moved to New Orleans.
I got a letter from CSN in the mail to my house here in Henderson (while I was in NOLA) stating that I registered for 2 classes for Fall 07 and owed them money for said classes. Roughly $400.
This was at the end of 2007.
Why would I register for college courses in Nevada when I was already set to move to Louisiana? I didn't receive correspondence until months after I supposedly registered. I explained the situation and was told they would take care of the situation and I would be fine. Got another letter in the mail stating I was still responsible. Interesting. My account was placed on hold.
I got a collection notice in July of 2008 from one company in Ohio - called them numerous times to clear up this "debt" because no info was provided on letter. Never heard back, never answered during their "business hours." Account was transferred to another company in California almost a year later (July 09), but dates on letter were 2 weeks before I received the actual piece of mail, and they gave me a deadline. Nice. Called NEW collection agency to clear this up. Didn't answer, hung up on twice when someone actually answered! Finally, I got the website from a rude lady, paid online and owed a $16 service fee on top of that.
Called CSN a few hours later to confirm receipt of payment confirmation. They told me they didn't receive it and that my account was still on hold because I owed them $33 from the library, but couldn't tell me which book it was for. I never checked a book out from CSN...?
They told me they couldn't help me and to call back later.
These people are assholes and none of them seem to be doing what they are supposed to.
I paid them for classes I never registered for, went to, or knew about until the end of the semester after my account was hacked - and they couldn't even tell me after spending $400 what the $33 hold was for.
They don't keep track of anything over there and can't tell me when they sent me notices.
What a shame. Not one decent college in this valley.
