| - First of all, I have been a Cox customer for nearly 30 years. Thirty years. Ponder on that a while. I've let them get away with bull$h!t for this long for several reasons - first of them is that I'm simply too lazy to search out other, better options.
That said, they finally have driven me away.
For the last year and more, I have been losing all the channels I'm paying for due to some technical problem - every few weeks, we couldn't get anything from channel 23 and up (which included the HD channels; 1023 and up). I'd call, they'd do their thing, and it would be fixed... for a while. Then it would happen again.
Half the techs who took care of me over the phone blamed my Tivo. The other half were generally helpful. One came to the house and did a lot of re-wiring. Another tried moving USB ports (this worked for a time). They adjusted cables, they re-sent signal, blah blah blah.
Okay, so after it broke again, I finally called to have them pull the plug. The woman I spoke to talked me into having another service call to fix the problem. A pair of, to be honest, really great guys came out and did a lot of experimenting. They were square with me, and admitted they didn't know what the problem was. They contacted their superiors, and set up another appointment. The next crew came out and they were great, too. Finally, FINALLY got it fixed.
So, yay?
Um, NO. I get my bill and Cox has CHARGED me a service fee for both of these final visits -- $150 bucks tacked onto the already astronomical bill I pay them, which I've been grumbling about for years.
When I call to complain, I get the "it's because of your Tivo, which we don't support." In other words, we want you to send us MORE money to get our DVR instead of yours."
Well, Cox, frankly: F*CK THAT. Pardon me. You ALREADY charge me over $200 a month for your "save money with a bundle!" BS.
We have had it. As soon as we get an internet provider, we're cutting the cable with you for good. After THIRTY YEARS.
If you've finally managed to get to lazy me, how many other people are leaving you in droves?
