Despite their given hours info, Bakerbots was open both for baked goods AND ice-cream Saturday (at least at 2 pm). Yay!
Both Beer and Earl Grey (London Fog) ice cream have really strong tastes of what they should taste like. The Earl Grey is really worth getting alone as a scoop of ice cream.
The ginger cookie did not add much to it and distracted from the tea taste. The ginger cookie was also more like molasses with a little ginger sting at the end.
I did like the baked goods:
Red Velvet is my absolute favorite - it beats Sprinkles cupcake, Juniors in NY, Ultimate Red Velvet from Cheesecake factory, and a couple of red velvets from other small bakeries I've been to. This is exactly what red velvet should taste like - deep and with a clear hint of vinegar. The cream cheese on top was also very rich + sugary and complemented the earthy taste of the Red Velet exactly as it should. It was such a rich cream cheese frosting that it didn't even need to cover the whole top of the cupcake.
Butterscotch tart - Super, super sweet.
Lemon tart - Lemon is very tart, more like real lemon than most lemon fillings; topped with a toasted marshmallow rather than cream, so it's really thick and rich.
I think it's wonderful that Bakerbots is so responsive to reviews. They do have an ATM inside now (and it is cutely decorated). I also found the staff hospitable, even when answering questions of newcomers about what to get. So I am boosting a 4 star rating to 5 stars.
TLDR: Recommend Earl Grey ice cream (w/o cookie) and red velvet cupcake especially. Shop seems caring!
