La Diperie specalizes in belgian chocolate dips which are simply delicious. You start with the basic vanilla soft serve and can choose to eat it in a cup or cone. There are at least 20 dips to choose from ranging from rich flavoured dark chocolates to sweeter milk chocolates where you can eat to your heart's content. It can be overwhelming at first standing in front of so many different flavours of dips and not knowing which flavour to settle with. Thankfully they do allow some sampling. I sampled flavours which were ginger, lavender, dark espresso, matcha, and dulce de leche. Among the five my favourites were dark espresso because it had the bold coffee flavour, matcha because it had the rich tea flavour, and dulce de leche because it was sweet like a ferroro roche. They dipped the vanilla cone into the chocolate which was actually satisfying to watch. After dipping there are a range of toppings to add as well ranging from sugary toppings like cotton candy and sprinkles to healthy options like nuts and banana chips. I actually wanted both but decided to opt for something salty like banana chips to go with the dulce de leche dip. I thought that the chocolate on top of the soft serve would actually be soft like fudge but it actually hardened into a chocolate shell which was helpful for eating. After trying the cup I was curious what the cone would taste like and decided to try that, this time opting for dark espresso dip with pistachio which was delicious as well
If you like to mix and match and love vanilla soft serve then definitely stop by La Diperie for some ice cream. There are a couple tables inside or you can eat it outside at the Trinity Bellwoods park while soaking up the sun during the few months of spring and summer that we have.
