| - i'll cop to it, this is a straight, sentimental 5 stars.
after a hard 4 or 5 hours in class at cwru law just up the street, there was no place like the spider to head in, grab a quick 1 or 10 beers and head home to get some work done. it was always tough to leave this place. warm in the winter, cool with outdoor seating in the summer, darts, foosball, a video game and live music every night. that's really it. your basic bar. if you're looking for 400 flat screen t.v.s playing the sports of the world, go somewhere else. if you want a great place to tip back a few and - oh my god - actually talk to your friends and people who will become friends, the spider is for you.
i stop in every time i'm back in town. a good story, that typifies this place - the first time i went in after law school was about 3 years after i left cleveland. martin, who my crew was on a first-name basis with in law school, actually remembered me. it was like coming home. i miss the fact the spider does not stock kozel - my law school staple (16 oz. for $3) - anymore, but all things must change.
this place is definitely off the beaten path. really, i think it used to be a garage or carriage house for the building in front of it. nevertheless, if you are going to stop by, please know the spider does not have street frontage. your best bet is to look for the arabica and pull into the next driveway - all the way in.
