I just cancelled all of my Liberty Mutual coverages. My daughter had an accident in April 2015 in which she was at fault. My Liberty Mutual agent told me at the time not to worry about a rate increase as we had "accident forgiveness". I was surprised to see a significant increase in my auto premium at the next renewal in Oct 2015. I tried calling my agent, but he had left the company. I called customer service and they explained that accident forgiveness doesn't apply to drivers under the age of 25 (my agent must not have known that). This year at renewal time, I called to see what coverage changes could be made to reduce my rates. During this conversation I was surprised to learn that I no longer had accident forgiveness for myself or my wife (we have had no accidents). I asked how accident forgiveness could be dropped from my policy since we had not received any benefit from the prior accident (due to my daughter's age). The rep told me that she would refer my question to underwriting and to expect a call back in 24-48 hours. I waited over a week and never received a callback. I then called customer service back and was again told that my situation would be referred to underwriting and some one would call me. I never received a call back. As a result I contacted other carriers and receive several lower quotes for my auto, home and liability coverages. I likely would have stayed with Liberty Mutual if I had received the courtesy of a simple return call.
