This review is also on Trip Advisor. Since my current status level allows me to skip the Resort Fee and there were some great prices on the strip for Christmas eve I decided to try out Harrahs for one night. Valet puts you right at the hotel check-in and was quick. I did use the Diamond VIP check in but I was there at about noon so there wasn't much of a line at the regular registration. They were quick and pleasant and had coffee and strawberry water available for guest in the registration room. I had originally reserved a Carnival Tower King room with a strip view but when I got to my room, I found they had upgraded me to a suite on the top floor. The room was fantastic with a large comfortable bed, fluffy chair, desk, and very large marble bathroom with jetted tub and separate shower. The view of the strip was also good with the corner windows looking out over the Venetian and the Mirage. The location is excellent; central strip really can't be beat for walking to the majority of casinos on the strip.
The room looked like it had been renovated in the last 5 years since it did have some wear and tear but the was still clean. The tub worked great and filled fast but it looked like it was missing a cover on the controls for the jets. The toilet had a continuous dripping sound for a while after flushing but there was no water on the floor so I'm guessing it was an interior issue. I tried to try the shower in the morning but could not get it to work. I don't know if I wasn't pulling hard enough on the lever or if the water was shut off but it would just not work. The cabinets below the sink were actual cabinets you could open and put things in. There was a hair dryer that I didn't use and a coffee maker. Toiletries included shampoo/body wash, conditioner, and lotion along with a shower cap and hand soaps.
After checking in and seeing my room I figured I get a quick lunch at the buffet. I made a bad choice because it was just sad and almost none of the buffet attendants seemed to care about keeping things filled or cooked right. For breakfast after I checked out I tried the coffee place a Fulton Street and got a regular coffee with a breakfast sandwich. That was very good even if it was hotel pricey.
I only stayed one night so I can't really speak to how well the cleaning was or how they fixed problems since I forgot to ask about the shower when I checked out. Due to the bad buffet experience and the non-working shower I gave three stars but I will consider them again for a stay.
