If Contemporary art is your thing, this is your museum.
I am so glad I went there today. In additional to the infamous James Turrell and his installation on the entire 2nd floor of the main museum building, I was absolutely blown away by Ryder Henry's "Diaspora." (Did you hear that....that was my mind blowing up....BAM!).
Let me fail not to mention the hauntingly beautiful, visually spectacular "Trace of Memory" located at MF's newest building at 516 Sampsonia Way as well. There will never be a better site specific work like this in this former row house again. Do yourself a favor and make it an absolute must see on your "Pittsburgh, culturally cool, outside the box, contemporary art" checklist.
Going to the Mattress Factory was the best decision I have made all month. As a foot note, Sam at the desk upon arrival was super friendly and provided great information on how to see it all in my 2 hours or less I had.
