I absolutely love this place! I've only been here twice but it's practically perfect every time. I kinda want to give it 5 stars but I rarely do that unless something extraordinary happened. As for Sol, it's good. Very good. The food, cocktails, atmosphere and music are on point. The vibe is very cosmopolitan and I love that. I feel like I'm at a spot in New York when I'm there. I wish there were more places in CLT with this cosmo vibe.
My second visit was recent. I ate at the bar and the bartenders while cordial weren't very talkative so I pulled a member of the staff who was just walking by and asked him for recommendations. He wasn't even my server but he eagerly stopped and spent a good bit of time with me to offer several suggestions. His name is Drew and he was fantastic!
I had their version of the Moscow Mule to drink. They have a different name for it. I can't remember what they call it but it's damn good. I also had the pork belly tacos, goat cheese balls, and chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Every item was cooked to perfection. Literally mouthwatering.
My only con is that the place is really small. Apparently the wait can be off the chain. I went 30 mins after they opened and there was already a wait but I was by myself so I snagged the one open seat at the bar and it was perfect.
Also it's pricey. All the items are tapas. By the time you order a few plates and drinks, you will have already racked up a hefty tab but it's well worth it.
Love love love this place and highly recommend it, especially if you have friends in town. That way, you can show them what a cool kid you are :) I can't wait to go back....but it will need to be for a special occasion or a splurge.
