When Fairmont acquired a chain of Canadian hotels, they got some of Canada's crown jewel properties: chateaux lake Louise, Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City, whistler, etc. They also got the soviet era (1956) chestnut that is the answer to the Sesame Street song "one of these things is not like the others"
Service is fantastic, and location is good (you can take a train from Toronto, and take an elevator up to your room). But those "pros" don't make up for the cramped rooms, crunchy army-grade toilet paper, and quite possibly the most expensive bottle of "welcome water" I've ever seen on 3 continents (we're in Canada - the tap water is delicious, thank you).
