rev:text	I don't get what all the hullabaloo is. This is a wannabe Pets Inc. They will never BE Pets Inc and will never match the reptile stores in Mesa, so they better step up their game in aquaria and small animals. Cramped, expensive, dark. The photos are totally misleading; it looks like they cranked the lights way up and spaced the shelves apart for them. Seriously expensive IMHO. $13 for a pet rat, the same rat that gets sold as a feeder for $4. $250 for a pigeon blood discus - going rate for a medium one at LiveAquaria.com, $60. The dog food brands were a good $3-$4 above Petsmart/Petco. All the animals were at least $10 over what I've seen them in other pet stores, including big boxes AND independents. Have I made my point? There were very few birds (just a few lovebirds/parakeets/zebra finches), and I was not impressed with the reptile section. All the larger snakes were in far too small of cages and a few seemed skinny. Small animals was no bueno either; the rabbits and guinea pigs were crammed into tiny cages on the ground level; the thing looked like a modified 20 gallon aquarium. As Nicholas said, I did not receive any greeting from the employees, but more or less got run over as one brushed past with another customer, with the air that he was going somewhere incredibly important. The one cleaning the birds was more or less avoiding eye contact. The only plus was that it didn't smell terrible, as a lot of small pet shops do. I guess if you live in east Mesa/Gilbert and don't want to support Petco across the street, go for it, but I wouldn't make it my primary stop.
