| - Our incoming water service line was leaking, seeping water into our basement utility room. Our service line comes in from the street, under our two car garage, and under and up into our utility room. We initially got an estimate from a plumber that was sent by our home warranty. This plumber wanted to dig up our utility room to try and find the leak, and if they couldn't find it there, would then replace the line and also said this would not be covered by our home warranty. We felt uncomfortable with this recommendation and decided to call Terry's Plumbing because they are well known and have a good reputation.
Kathy, their phone scheduler, was friendly and pleasant. She put Terry on the line and he said he would be out first thing in the morning to look at it. Terry came as promised on a Saturday morning and reviewed the various options, recommending that the line be replaced. He said they would use a method in which the "pull" the new line through by attaching it to the old line and pulling it out through the street, rather than having to dig up our entire basement and garage. He did caution us that it was not without risk, but that they do it often and that it works well. We agreed to the work.
After a day delay because the water company had to first come and repair the street valve that was found to be not working, Terry's four man crew arrived the next morning and successfully pulled out the old line, putting the new line in place. We watched them work the whole time and the whole process was quite impressive. The backhoe operator, Rege, used amazing precision to carefully pull the line out, which was about 75 feet long I'd guess. The crew spent about 7 hours on site and cleaned up the job site spotlessly when done.
We were so thankful that this procedure worked and that we did not have to dig up inside. Plus, Terry really spent time with us making sure we understood the options, pros and cons, and generally reassuring us that his team would take care of the problem and not to worry. He made numerous calls to me throughout the weekend to help coordinate and advise on the water company involvement and logistics that were needed. In a nutshell these are good people.
I will use Terry for all my plumbing needs without a doubt.
