| - 4 hour layover in YYZ = HELL...
If you're taking off for a international flight, there is nothing to do on that wing...well you could eat some pseudo doughnuts from Tims, get high (-ly caffeinated) on your 3rd Double Double, eat a dry veggie burger with stale fries at a restaurant whose name I fail to remember (it was that mouthwatering, that I forgot...sorry ;o), have a drink at the pop-up bar, try on some lipstick or eyeshadow to seduce the pilot whom you will encounter in a few hours, or men spray on some overpriced cologne to get the stewardess to give you a few extra cookies, listen to misbehaved children yack about the thrills of life, or I suppose you could Yelp like me. ;)
I got through customs quick, even though I had a lot of crap with me. YYZ is not that difficult to navigate, but with many bags, and coming from a flight, it gets quite annoying--quite fast. It is the longest walk from the terminal to where you claim your luggage. Like LONG, I am not even going to tell you how long it is either...you shall endure the misery for yourself.
Also from downtown Toronto (say Queen E) it takes anywhere from 30-50 minutes by car...and with transit about 90 minutes. Another reason Vancouver triumphs over the T.O is that as we Vancouverites can get from the airport to downtown in under than 30 minutes, on transit no less. ;o
Next time I will just take YUL when going to Rome...or if you are going across the Atlantic I suggest you do the same thing...
