I was a co-op member back in the dayyyy, yo, when the co-op was a tiny little hole in the wall, a mere closet comparatively.. and being a member was edgy and cooolll, man, progressive! Flash forward to today and I live out on the east coast where there is no such thing and they look atcha funny when you daydream about it. Now I come home to visit and I still get a kick out of shopping at a neighborhood ICON with a beautiful mural on the side now, and a free library box out front. I buy a few staples for my stay, and pick up lunch for my flight home, and I always make a stop for my favorite cheeses and some Gail Ambrosius chocolate, and of course a mocha from their coffee bar. I love that everyone who works there or shops there smiles and says hi. One time? On my birthday? The lady checking out in front of me bought me a birthday granola bar and I hugged her. Willy Street, you and me? We're still a thing.
