I must have walked past this place a million times. I was always curious but I never had any inclination to walk in and sample their treats. Turns out I wasn't missing anything. On a self mandated mission to try more things in my neighbourhood, I moseyed in here one summer day. I was greeted with genuine smile and hi from the woman at the counter. As I took in the products and prices my eyes nearly popped out of my head. $3.75 for a cupcake? Who are they kidding? After a nice conversation about the near-ubiquity and trendiness of whoopie pies I settled on a chocolate and vanilla one for $2.50. I didn't feel like sitting alone in the shop so I walked to a nearby park. I was eager to pop my whoopie pie cherry so I greedily bit in to it and was surprised by the chalky, dry texture of the cake. I tasted stale and faintly of chocolate. The vanilla cream was no improvement on the cake, it was gummy and tasted only of sugar. Uck. I was so dissapointed, I threw away the second half.
I give them one star for the quality of the whoopie pie but I bumped it up to two because of the atmosphere and friendly staff.
